  7. doccano is an open source text annotation tool for humans. It provides annotation features for text classification, sequence labeling and sequence to sequence tasks. So, you can create labeled data for sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, text summarization and so on. Just create a project, upload data and start annotating. You can build a dataset in hours.
  8. ## Demo
  9. You can try the [annotation demo](http://doccano.herokuapp.com).

  17. - RESTful API
  18. ## Usage
  19. Three options to run doccano:
  20. - pip(experimental)
  21. - Docker
  22. - Docker Compose
  23. - production
  24. - development
  25. For docker and docker compose, you need to install dependencies:
  26. - [Git](https://git-scm.com)
  27. - [Docker](https://www.docker.com)
  28. - [Docker Compose](https://docs.docker.com/compose)
  29. ### pip installation
  30. To install doccano, simply run:
  31. ```bash
  32. pip install doccano
  33. ```
  34. After installation, simply run the following command:
  35. ```bash
  36. doccano
  37. ```
  38. Go to <http://0.0.0.0:8000/>.
  39. ### Docker
  40. As a one-time setup, create a Docker container as follows:
  41. ```bash
  42. docker pull doccano/doccano
  43. docker container create --name doccano \
  44. -e "ADMIN_USERNAME=admin" \
  45. -e "ADMIN_EMAIL=admin@example.com" \
  46. -e "ADMIN_PASSWORD=password" \
  47. -p 8000:8000 doccano/doccano
  48. ```
  49. Next, start doccano by running the container:
  50. ```bash
  51. docker container start doccano
  52. ```
  53. To stop the container, run `docker container stop doccano -t 5`.
  54. All data created in the container will persist across restarts.
  55. Go to <http://127.0.0.1:8000/>.
  56. ### Docker Compose
  57. You need to clone the repository:
  58. ```bash
  59. git clone https://github.com/doccano/doccano.git
  60. cd doccano
  61. ```
  62. _Note for Windows developers:_ Be sure to configure git to correctly handle line endings or you may encounter `status code 127` errors while running the services in future steps. Running with the git config options below will ensure your git directory correctly handles line endings.
  63. ```bash
  64. git clone https://github.com/doccano/doccano.git --config core.autocrlf=input
  65. ```
  66. #### Production
  67. Set the superuser account credentials in the `docker-compose.prod.yml` file:
  68. ```yml
  69. ADMIN_USERNAME: "admin"
  70. ADMIN_PASSWORD: "password"
  71. ```
  72. If you use Google Analytics, set the tracking:
  73. ```yml
  74. GOOGLE_TRACKING_ID: "UA-12345678-1"
  75. ```
  76. Run doccano:
  77. ```bash
  78. $ docker-compose -f docker-compose.prod.yml up
  79. ```
  80. Go to <http://0.0.0.0/>.

  104. See [here](https://doccano.github.io/doccano/).
  105. ## Contribution
  106. As with any software, doccano is under continuous development. If you have requests for features, please file an issue describing your request. Also, if you want to see work towards a specific feature, feel free to contribute by working towards it. The standard procedure is to fork the repository, add a feature, fix a bug, then file a pull request that your changes are to be merged into the main repository and included in the next release.
