  7. doccano is an open source text annotation tool for humans. It provides annotation features for text classification, sequence labeling and sequence to sequence tasks. So, you can create labeled data for sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, text summarization and so on. Just create a project, upload data and start annotating. You can build a dataset in hours.
  8. ## Demo
  9. You can try the [annotation demo](http://doccano.herokuapp.com).

  27. - [Docker](https://www.docker.com)
  28. - [Docker Compose](https://docs.docker.com/compose)
  29. ### pip installation
  30. To install doccano, simply run:
  31. ```bash
  32. pip install doccano
  33. ```
  34. After installation, run the following commands:
  35. ```bash

  37. doccano init
  38. # Create a super user.
  39. doccano createuser --username admin --password pass
  40. # Start a web server.
  41. doccano webserver --port 8000
  42. ```
  43. In another terminal, run the following command:
  44. ```bash
  45. # Start the task queue to handle file upload/download.
  46. doccano task
  47. ```
  48. Go to <http://127.0.0.1:8000/>.
  49. ### Docker
  50. As a one-time setup, create a Docker container as follows:
  51. ```bash
  52. docker pull doccano/doccano
  53. docker container create --name doccano \
  54. -e "ADMIN_USERNAME=admin" \
  55. -e "ADMIN_EMAIL=admin@example.com" \
  56. -e "ADMIN_PASSWORD=password" \
  57. -p 8000:8000 doccano/doccano
  58. ```
  59. Next, start doccano by running the container:
  60. ```bash
  61. docker container start doccano
  62. ```
  63. To stop the container, run `docker container stop doccano -t 5`.
  64. All data created in the container will persist across restarts.
  65. Go to <http://127.0.0.1:8000/>.
  66. ### Docker Compose
  67. You need to clone the repository:
  68. ```bash
  69. git clone https://github.com/doccano/doccano.git
  70. cd doccano
  71. ```
  72. _Note for Windows developers:_ Be sure to configure git to correctly handle line endings or you may encounter `status code 127` errors while running the services in future steps. Running with the git config options below will ensure your git directory correctly handles line endings.
  73. ```bash
  74. git clone https://github.com/doccano/doccano.git --config core.autocrlf=input
  75. ```
  76. Set the superuser account credentials in the `./config/env.example` file:
  77. ```plain
  78. ADMIN_USERNAME=admin
  79. ADMIN_PASSWORD=password
  80. ADMIN_EMAIL=admin@example.com
  81. ```
  82. #### Production

  110. As with any software, doccano is under continuous development. If you have requests for features, please file an issue describing your request. Also, if you want to see work towards a specific feature, feel free to contribute by working towards it. The standard procedure is to fork the repository, add a feature, fix a bug, then file a pull request that your changes are to be merged into the main repository and included in the next release.
